The house shown, with a front facing gable, is a common type around Cork City, Ireland The house was insulated by another company a couple of years ago. Since it was done, the homeowners have had several new problems occurring in the house.
When Envirobead surveyed the property we discovered several issues:
- The walls were drilled to be pumped at the front, back and sides .
- The contractor didn’t survey the house properly. If they had, they would have known that the back of the house from the side door is cavity block, not cavity wall. This is extremely common in areas such as Silver Springs in Cork City.
- The large knee wall in the bedrooms upstairs was left uninsulated, as were the sloping ceilings.
We insulated the back of the knee wall with fiberglass. The sloping ceilings were fitted with insulated slabs as was the back bedroom wall (cavity block).
We also ventilated both bedrooms upstairs, leaving both rooms up to building reg. standard and a lot more comfortable for the homeowners.
